Solitary Sandpiper and Least Sandpipers, Arcadia, Aug 6, 2013
Solitary Sandpiper, Arcadia, Aug 6, 2013
I stopped by Arcadia marsh again yesterday morning to see if
any new shorebirds showed up overnight. The Connecticut River water level must have raised just a little bit
overnight which backed water up into the marsh and flooded most of the mudflats
there.A slight increase in most
shorebird species but I think most of that can be attributed to the birds being
more concentrated than an actual influx of new birds.Overall very similar numbers to the previous
morning with half a dozen Killdeer, a Spotted Sandpiper, seven Solitary
Sandpipers and 14 Least Sandpipers.Tomorrow
and Friday will feature occasional rain and thunderstorms which may ground some
birds if the conditions are right.I
will try to check a few spots over the next few days if I get a chance.
