Solitary Sandpiper and Least Sandpipers, Arcadia, Aug 6, 2013
Solitary Sandpiper, Arcadia, Aug 6, 2013
I stopped by Arcadia marsh again yesterday morning to see if any new shorebirds showed up overnight.  The Connecticut River water level must have raised just a little bit overnight which backed water up into the marsh and flooded most of the mudflats there.  A slight increase in most shorebird species but I think most of that can be attributed to the birds being more concentrated than an actual influx of new birds.  Overall very similar numbers to the previous morning with half a dozen Killdeer, a Spotted Sandpiper, seven Solitary Sandpipers and 14 Least Sandpipers.  Tomorrow and Friday will feature occasional rain and thunderstorms which may ground some birds if the conditions are right.  I will try to check a few spots over the next few days if I get a chance.
