Cape May Warbler, Quabbin, MA, Oct 9, 2011
I had a spectacular day birding the central part of Quabbin on a beautiful day in early October.  The weather started cool in the upper 40's but quickly warmed to a record setting mid 80's high.  The highlights were many and included eight species of warbler including an adult male Cape May in a mixed species flock.  In addition there was a large influx of both species of kinglets compared to last week in the same location as well as lots of White-throated Sparrows (100+).  I added a new bird to the list for this area of Quabbin with a very odd flyby American Pipit.  I have included the list for the day below.  Beyond the birds I had a few deer, a Porcupine and a Weasel species that I'm still trying to pin down to specific species. (After consulting a few books as well as describing the weasel to someone who knows them well the ID would be a Longtail Weasel)
