This morning dawned cold once again with temperatures in the 20's but with the sun and a southerly breeze it warmed into the 50's.  I made a few stops at Quabbin Park and found the following waterfowl throughout the park:  seven Black Ducks, three Hooded Mergansers, five Common Loons, nine Horned Grebes, two Mallards and half a dozen Canada Geese.  Other birds around included hundreds of gulls (almost all ring billed) at dawn and the other expected species.

A walk with Wilson along the Jabish Canal produced a group of four Northern Flickers, a couple Winter Wrens and a mixed species flock of sparrows that included several American Tree Sparrows, a White throated Sparrow, a few Song Sparrows, my first Fox Sparrow of the fall and several juncos.

A brief stop a Beaver Lake in Ware to follow up on a report of various species of waterfowl found a couple Bufflehead, 34 Common Mergansers, 9 Hooded Mergansers and a couple Mallards.
