I have managed to get out birding a bit the last several days between bouts of work and other obligations. The weather has continued its inevitable slide toward winter with a few nights getting into the teens and multiple cold days. The snow held off until the day after Thanksgiving when we got a dusting (areas in the hills to the west got several inches of snow). I spent a few very cold mornings at Winsor Dam in the hopes of finding some arriving waterfowl or other late season migrants. There were no big numbers but a decent selection of species with a Bonaparte's Gull that stayed around for a couple days among the highlights. I also spent some time doing some preliminary scouting in Hatfield for the upcoming Christmas Bird Count (December 19th for the Northampton count) as well as looking for late season warblers. I caught up with two Common Yellowthroats on the day after Thanksgiving. I also had a pale Canada Goose flyover the East Meadows a couple days ago which looked a lot like a pale goose that showed up in the area last January. I ended the month with a couple species of warbler and a late Gray Catbird this morning. I'm thankful to be getting away again to warmer locations to start off December.

Wilson eating the first snow of the season, Home, Belchertown, MA, Nov 28, 2021
After getting back from Ecuador I finally got around to checking some cameras at the house and found that a Black Bear paid a midday visit to the water feature. The water feature is now closed up for the season. The last week of November finally produced the first snow and Wilson was very happy to be able to eat it again! He is doing well with his cancer and still acts as if nothing is wrong.
