Red winged Blackbirds, East Meadows, Northampton, MA, Feb 2, 2020
February began in much the same way January ended with seasonally mild weather and calm weather conditions.  I had a little time and energy after work this morning and I headed out in search of warblers for the month and I had great luck finding two species of warblers in a relatively short time (Yellow rumped Warblers and a Pine Warbler).  With the warblers seen this morning I have now had at least one species of warbler a month for 34 straight months in Hampshire County.  Much more details on the warblers can be found at warblers in early February  Besides the warblers I had a few other notable sightings this morning in the East Meadows including 24 Black Ducks, a female Northern Pintail and at least 112 Red winged Blackbirds.  The morning looked, sounded and felt much more like early March instead of early February.  It will be interesting to see what the rest of the month brings.
