As the first real warm weather of the season arrives I will catch up on activities around the house. I checked the duck boxes this morning (except box #2 which had a Hooded Merganser sitting on eggs when I last checked the boxes on April 4 so I didn't bother her today). Both box #1 and box #3 had multiple eggs in them with box #3 looking like it is almost complete with down feathers mixed in among the wood chips and eggs. I'll check both boxes again in a week or so and see what species is sitting on the eggs and then will leave them be for awhile.
The water feature continues to attract birds (and a mammal) in the first few days it has been open. As of yesterday I have had 10 species of birds (including my first warbler of the season) and a single mammal. Looking forward to more captures as spring moves on.
The game camera along Jabish Brook has also captured some stuff with mainly mammals but a bird species (almost certainly an owl) got captured during the night.
