I started out another cool morning making the trip over to orchard hill. Although there was not as much migration last night as the previous two I still hoped there would be some good stuff around. I caught up with Ian Davies there and we waited for the sun to get the activity moving for the day. It started off a little slow but then picked up nicely. We heard a Connecticut Warbler again there and saw it briefly and then never saw it again. Lots of other migrants around including 50+ Black throated Green Warblers and good numbers of Magnolia and Northern Parula. I could go on and on with the specifics but I'll let the eBird list tell the story....overall another productive morning.

After returning from orchard hill I picked up Wilson and we headed to Jabish Canal for a walk. The best bird by far was an Olive sided Flycatcher. I have had this species here on several occasions before.

At home while working on some projects outside a few mixed species flocks came through with the highlight being a Cape May Warbler (#204)

Another neat web site to keep up with nocturnal migration is found at the following link:

The site is updated everyday and can give you some great info as far as what some of the species migrating at night are by analyzing the various flight calls.

  1. Great photos Larry, and I envy you in being able to figure out how to monitor migration using radar as I'm just getting my arms around it and it's confusing to say the least! Thank for the link on warbler/sparrow migration. Congrats on your yard bird Cape May!
